Niagara Regional Police responded to shooting incident in Beamsville just after 11:30 Saturday night. Officers arrived at a house on Central Avenue between John Street and Jackson Street. The initial investigation found that a white Hyundai Santa Fe SUV had driven by the home then came back. A lone male suspect exited the driver’s side of the vehicle at about 11:35pm and approached the front of the residence and fired approximately eight shots at the house from a handgun. The house and an adjacent parked car were struck by the gunfire. Two minutes later, the vehicle proceeded to drive northbound on Central Avenue at a high rate of speed fleeing the area.The occupants of the home were asleep at the time of the shooting. They were not injured. Detectives have reason to believe it was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community. The suspect is described as a black male with a skinny build, about 25 years old with black braided hair. The Hyundai was later recovered in Hamilton. It had been stolen and driven to Lincoln within an hour of the shooting.
