The St. Catharines Enterprise Centre has announced its 2023 Summer Company Showcase. The event, which is being held in the third floor Burgoyne Woods Room at St. Catharines City Hall, will run from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on June 28. It will feature eight new businesses, started by entrepreneurs between the ages of 15 and 29 as part of the City’s Summer Company Program. The services available for purchase include roof/gutter cleaning, freeze-dried snacks, wildlife photography, mobile auto detailing, embroidered clothing, math tutoring, outdoor furniture, and landscape construction. For the 2023 Summer Company Program, which was made possible through funding from the Province of Ontario, successful applicants receive a $3,000 grant (covering $1,500 in start-up costs and an additional $1,500 when the program requirements have been completed successfully). Successful applicants will also receive dozens of hours of business training and mentorship by the Enterprise Centre. Participants can start up almost any type of business they wish, as long as it is an independent business venture and not an extension of an existing or family business. The business must launch between May and July, with the program ending on September 5. (although the business may continue past this date). The St. Catharines Enterprise Centre , located at 14 Ontario Street in St. Catharines, was created through a partnership between Ontario’s Ministry of Economic Development, Job Development and Trade, and the City of St. Catharines’ Economic Development and Tourism Services department. The SCEC provides guidance and support to start-ups and works closely with local entrepreneurs to help them get started and strive for sustained success.
