Last fall’s surge in respiratory and viral infections among children has prompted extra training for emergency medical staff at Niagara Health’s three ERs.
They are focusing on potential life-threatening complications from conditions like RSV, flu, and COVID-19.
Niagara Health, in collaboration with McMaster Children’s Hospital and McMaster University’s Centre for Simulation-Based Learning, is conducting mock pediatric emergency and education sessions.
This marks the first collaboration between all three institutions since 2018.
