At 12 noon today, the OHL trade deadline came and went. The IceDogs and interim GM Wes Consorti were busy right up until the Wednesday deadline.
Joining Niagara are goaltender Charlie Roberston from North Bay plus defenseman Callum Cheynowski and forward Masen Wray from Brantford. The Dogs also acquired the playing rights to netminder Anson Thornton from Barrie.
Niagara’s OHL team continues to enjoy a well stocked draft cupboard, sweeping up a 9th rounder in 2024, 3rd and 8th round picks in 2025, two 3rd’s, a 4th, 6th & 10th round selections in 2026 and a 3rd & a 4th pick in 2027.
Trade deadline means familiar faces move the other way. Bronson Ride, Daniil Sobolev, Brody Crane, Charlie Burns and Zak Lavoie will all have new addresses.
Next up, hockey action at the Meridian Centre over the next two nights. Thursday, Barrie comes to town, while Friday will see the only visit of the season for the Flint Firebirds. New Country 89.1, the voice of the IceDogs, will have all the action beginning with the pre-game show at 6:45 each night.
