As the region continues to see more snow, CAA wants drivers to make sure they’re prepared for a worst-case scenario.
Kevin Puckett, Vice-President of Automotive Services at CAA Niagara, says having an emergency kit could come in handy.
He adds that having some non-perishable snacks in that kit could come in handy as well.
With the rise in snowfall amounts and the drop in temperature over the last few weeks, Puckett says CAA’s call volumes have gone up considerably, so there may be long wait times for a tow truck.
With snows and cold conditions, there are a number of things that could result in cars being pulled onto the shoulder of the highway, from dead batteries to collisions.
In the event that you are broken down in the snow, Puckett says the safest place for you to be is usually your car.
If you see a tow truck or another car broken down on the side of a road or highway, Puckett says you should slow down and move over if safe to give others space.
