If you want to go fishing Father’s Day weekend, Ontario is making it easier.
Tomorrow and Sunday, residents and visitors alike can enjoy the thrill of fishing without needing a license.
To take advantage of this opportunity, participants must carry government-issued identification showing their name and date of birth. You’re reminded to always practice safety and use best judgement when around bodies of water. Outside of free fishing periods, most Canadians between the ages of 18 and 65 must have an Outdoors Card and a fishing license.
The last annual free fishing event this year is Family Fishing Week (June 29-July 7) to celebrate Canada Day.
