Rick Kopp's 18,000 horsepower jet-engine truck, Bone Shaker.
We’re now one week out from Nitro Nationals at Toronto Motorsports Park, as it’s sure to be a roaring good time for many over Canada Day Weekend.
One of the highlights of the festivities is Bone Shaker, an 18,000 horsepower rocket truck. Driver Rick Kopp says he’s excited for any event happening at Toronto Motorsports Park.
Kopp, who grew up in the Burlington-area, says visiting the track was one of his fondest moments growing up – and remains so throughout his driving career.
He says one of the great things about Nitro Nationals weekend is the wide range of vehicles for spectators to see.
While he doesn’t race Bone Shaker against any other vehicles, it’s always a spectacle for others to see. The truck is based on a 1981 International Transtar, but boasts the jet engine from an F4 Phantom fighter jet.
While Kopp admits it’s still nerve-racking getting behind the wheel of a jet truck, it’s always a fun time for everyone involved. He says his shift from racing to being an entertainment piece at events has been a natural transition for him.
Tickets for the three day event are on sale now, while kids 15 and under are free. There are single-day tickets available, as well as weekend passes that include camping and non-camping options.
