Shania Twin, a world-renowned Shania Twain tribute act, is taking to the stage tomorrow in Welland for Concerts on the Canal.
Donna Huber, who performs as Shania Twin, says she was lucky enough to meet Twain one day.
When meeting Shania, she says the first thing she noticed was how much taller she was than Twain. Despite looking very familiar to one another, she says the one thing she can’t control is her height.
Huber eventually moved to Sudbury to live and work with her sister. It was here that she was surprised to receive compliments from strangers commenting on how she looks like Shania Twain. Even Twain herself had commented that after seeing a poster of Donna, “I thought that was me!”
Huber says her journey as a musician was different than most, as she didn’t start singing until her late 20s – which is also when she discovered Twain’s music.
Twin has performed far and wide, from small towns in Ontario to locations across Europe over 30 years performing.
After three decades of playing Shania’s music, Huber says she still enjoys them – no matter how often she performs them.
Donna has been on the road since March of 1996 performing as Twain, and hasn’t looked back.
Festivities start at 6:00pm with food and drinks, while Welland’s Andy Colonico is opening at 7:00pm. Colonico launched his country project earlier this year, and has seen bookings across the Niagara Region, as well as throughout Ontario.
Concerts on the Canal continues throughout the summer, including:
- August 16th: Jukebox Heroes
- August 23rd: Unraveling the Wilburys
- September 20th: True Rodeo
