The Ontario government and Hydro One have completed a $135 million refurbishment of the Beck #2 Transformer Station in Niagara Falls.
This upgrade will extend the station’s life by 40 years and ensure a reliable supply of clean energy for southwestern Ontario.
The station connects over 1,500 megawatts of hydroelectric power and is key to Ontario’s efforts to meet rising electricity demand, which is expected to grow by 60% by 2050 due to new homes, investments, and electrification. We will have more on this story from Hydro One CEO David Lebeter and Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff.
