Dr. Karen Schiff, Regional Supervising Coroner, has announced a new date for the inquest into the deaths of five men while in custody at the Niagara Detention Centre or after being transferred to Greater Niagara Hospital.
Required by the Coroners Act, the inquest will investigate the circumstances surrounding their deaths, lasting 15 days and featuring testimony from about 17 witnesses.
It begins at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 21.
