Work has begun by the Canadian Coast Guard to have a Niagara landmark removed over the next few weeks.
La Grande Hermine, an abandoned ship that’s been visible from the QEW in Jordan Harbour, is being disassembled because of the risk it poses due to its condition.
The ship’s masts were removed in 2021, while the rest of the ship is being cut into smaller pieces and transported to shore. It’s expected the operation will be happening until December.
