The Memorial Forest at Glenridge Quarry Naturalization Site in St. Catharines has a new addition.
Earlier this year, a “wind phone,” inspired by a Japanese tradition, has been added, allowing visitors to share messages with lost loved ones.
The forest also features plaques and stones dedicated to mental health awareness. Each October, Niagara Region Public Health hosts a vigil at the forest during Mental Illness Awareness Week.
This is the second wind phone in the region, after Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority installed one at Ball’s Falls Conservation Area.
