In 1995, a man’s remains were recovered from the Niagara River in Niagara Falls, but he remained unidentified as “John Doe.”
In 2023, the Niagara Regional Police collaborated with the DoeNetwork and U.S. authorities after a potential link was suggested to a missing man from Niagara Falls, New York.
DNA analysis and extensive forensic work confirmed in 2024 that “John Doe” was indeed the missing man.
His family, now notified, plans to place a headstone on his grave in Canada and has expressed gratitude to all involved agencies for bringing closure after nearly 30 years.
At the family’s request, the man’s name has not been released.
