Niagara Regional Police, Hamilton Police, Niagara Parks Police, MTO and the Town of Lincoln partnered for a joint enforcement initiative last Thursday. In response to community concern involving increased commercial motor vehicle traffic in Lincoln and West Lincoln, the focus of the initiative was to identify commercial vehicles intentionally bypassing the Vineland Inspection Station and to ensure compliance with road safety standards. Over 50 commercial vehicles were directed into the Vineland Inspection Station. 49 were comprehensively inspected. 61 tickets were issued for various Highway Traffic Act offences. Officers stopped a commercial vehicle that was not equipped with an ignition interlock device, which is required following an impaired driving related driving conviction. The vehicle was impounded. Another vehicle was stopped that had no insurance coverage. The licence plates were removed, and the vehicle was towed away.
