The Welland Jackfish have reeled in more fans than ever before.
The team announced after Saturday’s game at Welland Stadium, that the 2024 season has seen a record 35,222 fans attend games this summer – with three home games remaining on the season.
The Jackfish picked up a 6-2 victory over the London Majors Saturday, in front of 2282 fans – their sixth sellout this season.
Two local products led the Jackfish, as Chippawa native Brandon Underhill pitched seven solid innings, while Tyler Dupuis of St. Catharines had two hits, scored three runs, and played three ten-bell defensive plays in the win.
The Fish fell on Sunday afternoon in Kitchener, 8-5. Welland returns home on Thursday to host the Panthers, and add to their season attendance record. Thursday’s game is also Country Night, in partnership with Niagara’s New Country 89.1. The first 500 fans through the gates will get a cowboy hat with the team’s logo.
