Here is what we know – Justin Trudeau is still Prime Minister, is no longer leader of the Liberal Party and a new session of Parliament won’t happen until March 24th.
In one of the more interesting days in Canadian political history, Trudeau announced his resignation on Monday.
Political Professor, Dr. Cristine de Clercy says thankfully, you shouldn’t notice much of a change throughout this process.
In terms of who could replace Trudeau, de Clercy says to watch for names like Chrystia Freeland, Mark Carney and Anita Anand.
Meantime, in speaking with Sam Roulet, a PHD candidate at the University of Western Ontario in London, he says he thinks the nail in the coffin for Trudeau’s leadership was the resignation of Chrystia Freeland – Trudeau’s former Deputy Prime Minister.
Trudeau has led the Liberals since 2013 and served as Prime Minister since 2015.
This article will be updated as more expert reaction regarding Trudeau’s resignation comes in.
