The Ontario government has launched “Operation Deterrence”, with goals of enhancing security at international borders and combating cross-border crime.
The initiative includes a 200-member emergency response team from the Ontario Provincial Police, alongside frontline and specialty officers.
Since December 6, the OPP has conducted over 6,000 hours of patrols using aircraft, boats, and off-road vehicles to deter illegal activity.
In collaboration with the RCMP, the operation also employs canine units and criminal investigators.
