The Ontario Provincial Police is alerting the public about scammers misusing the OPP’s non-emergency number to deceive potential victims.
These fraudsters often pose as financial institutions or law enforcement, claiming unauthorized transactions and pressuring individuals to help with fake investigations. To appear legitimate, they may spoof phone numbers and use fake logos in emails.
The OPP recommends not trusting caller ID and advises people to verify any suspicious calls by contacting organizations directly through trusted contact details.
