Growing Up on the Farm, a look into local agriculture, fueled by KUBOTA. Today, we are profiling Roadside Flower Market.
While there are many farmers in the Niagara Region that grew up on the farms they work on – Hendrik Sikking is still growing up, and improving his skills every day.
Hendrick is still in his early teens, but is already helping operate ‘Roadside Flower Market’, located at 1923 Seventh Street in St. Catharines.
Along with his younger siblings, they build bouquets, pot plants, and set them. While Hendrik mentions working with his siblings can be a lot at times, it hasn’t deterred him from wanting to take on even more responsibilities.
He also owns chickens, and sells the eggs as well. He says he’s always had an interest in his parents’ business, Pioneer Flower Farms.
While hard work has been instilled in him from a young age, Hendrik does add that he likes playing with his friends and playing sports in his free time as well.
