Niagara has confirmed its first flu case of the season, according to public health officials.
This marks the initial lab-verified influenza case for the fall and winter. Given the presence of COVID-19, it’s advised that everyone maintain good hand hygiene, wear masks indoors or in crowded settings, stay home if unwell, and keep vaccinations up-to-date. High-risk individuals can access the flu vaccine this month, with availability for all residents starting on October 30th.
High-risk individuals with COVID-like symptoms are encouraged to get tested promptly, with some local pharmacies offering PCR tests, and free rapid antigen tests are also available at select locations.
