Niagara Regional Police attended the People’s Jewellery Store in the Seaway Mall in Welland around 3:45 Sunday afternoon in response to a theft. Investigation revealed an unknown suspect entered the store smashing the display case and stole several items of an undisclosed value. The suspect then fled through the mall. Neither the employees nor patrons were physically injured as a result of the incident. The suspect was believed to have fled towards the cemetery located at Niagara Woodlawn road in the City of Welland. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 30 years old, 5’8” with a medium build. He was Wearing a grey hooded sweater, black toque, black puma sweatpants with a puma logo on the left pocket. They suspect was also wearing bright orange construction gloves and a grey cloth mask over his face disguising his identity.
