Canada and the US are officially set to start trading tariffs this week, after discussions from both sides over the weekend on what would be tariffed, and how much.
We spoke with Julie Kwiecinski, the Canadian Federation of Independent Business’ Ontario Director of Provincial Affairs, who said if the government wants to help level the playing field, it should start by looking internally.
Another way to support Canadian businesses during a “trade war” is to make life easier, not harder—in other words, cut the red tape.
For Canadian households, these policies mean fewer job opportunities and rising prices on everyday goods, from cars to groceries. Inflation is expected to rise, while overall economic growth slows.
